Asetronics AG as successor of Ascom Manufacturing AG concentrates on manufacturing, mounting, and procurement of electronic circuit boards. These circuit boards diff er significantly from conventional boards in their make-up.

Asetronics AG has developed several patented products which are known as IMS (insulated metal substrate). Here the circuit board is comprised mainly of heat-transmitting and, more importantly, more cost-efficient aluminum composites. This technology allows for purging heat purposefully with a thermo-conductive bond. This prevents possible over-heating and reduces expensive cooling efficiently. Processing possibilities in IMS technology far exceeds traditional circuit boards. No matter whether the client orders special sizes, shapes, or strengths, this new technology remains a cost-reducing alternative to regular thick film technology and offers advantages that are due to the material of which boards are composed, such as better mechanical stability and heat transmission.
This special product by Asetronics AG represents the basis for the company’s success. In the area of medical technology alone, the company reached a return of approximately 15 million Swiss Francs in the last fiscal year, which appears relatively insignificant in comparison to the area of telecommunications, in which the company recorded a return of 30 million Swiss Francs. The operational possibilities for Asetronics products are varied. In the areas of telecommunications, medicine, and in the automotive sector, Asetronics produces and assembles circuit boards with an aluminum layer thickness of 0.8 to 1.5 mm. These aluminum-coated boards also play an important role in the “keyless-entry” system of Japanese automobile manufacturers and in control technology of trains.
For the Swiss precision company quality in production is a matter of course as it is for its customers in the areas of medicine and telecommunications, as well as in the automotive sector. In order to satisfy the company’s own demands for quality at the same time as fulfilling customer expectations, Asetronics AG decided to install a complete quality control system in the year 2000. Fredy Anderegg, the supervisor for quality and environmental management, remembers, with slight shivers, the system before he joined the company: “When I began my job at Asetronics AG, the company was using a FMEA based on Excel. Audits were still done in DOS.”

As Mr. Anderegg joined the company, the list of duties and responsibilities of a supervisor for quality and environmental management were rewritten. Company executives’ demands were challenging and needed to be realized in a very short period of time. Therefore, Mr. Anderegg, a mechanical engineer by training, had only 4 months to decide on a quality control system that would work for Asetronics AG. Considering the time constraint, the Bern company researched the line-up of software systems on the market via internet. Since no appropriate provider existed in Switzerland, Asetronics AG concentrated its efforts to find something on the German market. At first, the company had doubts due to the distance that separated it from the providers, often in excess of 500 km.
But soon Asetronics AG realized that two of the software providers had a sufficient support structure that relied mostly on the internet and phone system. When Asetronics AG told both software providers the deadline date for the software to function, CAQ AG’s competitor from
decided to withdraw voluntarily from a possible contract.
At CAQ AG Factory Systems, the service team saw the 5 remaining weeks, before the software had to be functional, as a welcome challenge. Instead of giving up, CAQ AG decided to expand its offer to include a one-week training session for the new customer from Switzerland. This training period also fit into the 5 weeks.
Andreas Pauletti - Asetronics AGMr. Anderegg and his colleague Andreas Pauletti, who is responsible for software installation and support at Asetronics AG, cannot find anything to complain about with CAQ AG Factory Systems software: “On the contrary!”, exclaim both quality experts.
“CAG AG Factory Systems software, especially the FMEA and audit management modules, are excellent tools. We have never regretted choosing CAQ AG Factory Systems software.”
The fact that CAQ AG did not have any existing customers in the same area of electronics as Asetronics AG did not bother the Swiss company: “Even though the software programmers had more experience in the mechanical sector, when we saw how quickly CAQ employees adjusted the PMM program, we became convinced quickly and decided that we could not go wrong with this software provider.” In the meantime, CAQ AG Factory Systems enjoys an excellent reputation in this, once unexplored, branch of the industry.
Asetronics AG continues to invest in the CAQ AG future-oriented system for quality control. At Asetronics AG, tests conducted with modules for machine and running data acquisition have been completed and form generator licenses have been increased. As soon as time allows appropriate training sessions will be offered instructing employees to use the new software.
Renowned customers especially demanding in the area of quality and environmental management describe their success stories and serve as guarantors and references for software that yields high performance and is reliable and fair.
From mid-size companies to multi-national corporations, CAQ AG develops innovative, integrated software solutions that satisfy the highest demands and meet all requirements of quality management.
Furthermore, CAQ AG software supports all quality-related processes pertaining to any value added chain, production companies, and service providers. We attach special importance to compliance with standards as well as 100% release-capability of all of our software solutions without any restrictions – all this while retaining the maximum degree of customization to satisfy customer-specific demands.
Although CAQ AG software solutions are installed on thousands of systems worldwide, we guarantee that you can update your version automatically, no matter how many updates and upgrades you have installed previously. All upgrades function with minimum servicing time and effort onsite. Updates install automatically without requiring you to consult or involve our service staff. Updates neither change nor impede any customer-specific configurations. This principle ensures the full value of your investments.

In all of our efforts our most important goal is not just to satisfy you, but instead to thrill you! One thing is essential to realizing this goal – and we are very proud of our accomplishments on this front: We have a highly motivated, engaged, and competent team in which and with which working is fun!
It is a matter of course for us here at CAQ AG that our employees in development, support, customer service, sales, and management, in addition to having university degrees as well as practical experience, have completed the training courses for “Quality Manager GFQ-IHK” or “Quality Assistant GFQ-IHK” and stay up-to-date by continuously completing training programs.
